About MEND: MEND - Meet Each Need with Dignity - is the most comprehensive agency serving low income families and individuals in the San Fernando Valley. More than 40,000 individuals receive help monthly from MEND, including emergency food and clothing; healthcare; ESL classes and job training; children’s programs; Christmas baskets; other services. In 2007, 2,600 volunteers gave 112,000 hours to power MEND’s services, fundraising and public relations projects, meaning that less than 5 percent of revenues were spent on overhead.

Why VICA membership is important: I appreciate the opportunity that VICA provides to closely examine legislation and public policy issues, and to influence the policy-making process, as well as the chance to directly interact with elected officials and influential community leaders.
